This is why MLS paid to have its games on ESPN
MLS had to pay to be on ESPN2 for so many years, because that's what gets and keeps you on the general sport fan's radar. On the other end of th spectrum, the NHL refused a revenue-sharing agreement, one without a big fat rights fee, with ESPN last year and chose to go to the more obscure Versus network.

The Middle Class Player?
There's been a lot of buzz about MLS player salaries, particularly the vast range between what David Beckham will make ($10M / season) and what your average Developmental Player makes (13K/season). In response to Andrea Canale's column, Financial divide in MLS magnified, Adam over at This is American Soccer argues that MLS has to focus on keeping the "Middle Class" player, and that signs of these players' exodus are troubling. But should we fret?

Bright future for Major League Soccer
What's the best indicator of the health of the league? For non-fans, the Beckham signing earlier this month was a huge deal. But, there are actually many reasons to be optimistic about the state of Major League Soccer and its future.

Its decided: SJ is better than LA
Staci and I were suffering through the DC United playoff fiasco this weekend. Luckily, we'd TIVO'd the game which let us fast forward through most of the game which made it somewhat bearable. So DC crashed out of the playoff without a goal to the best team in the league. Normally, I wouldn't mind a loss but this was a DC team that didn't even show up to play.

MLS future looking brighter
As a DC United and MLS fan, I was pretty worried about the league two years ago when it decided to contract its 2 Florida based teams. It's incredible how things have changed since then!
The year we had another soccer-specific stadium openened in LA, another breaking ground in Dallas, and plans for the same in NY, Chicago, and Colorado, and now we're hearing that new investors are coming on board.
